Starting small

We are four co-founders with roots in the Overberg, and backgrounds in earth science, life science, marketing and eco-tourism. Artists, scientists and fynbos lovers, with a strong sense of responsibility for the Cape’s plants and the land they grow on.

We are starting small and close to the ground. A few guided walks, a small studio, and the slow work of restoring the veld, which happens whether anyone is watching or not.

Every sale helps fund that work. So does every walk.

What we’re building

Cutting invasives is only half the job. Once the trees are down there is a mountain of biomass with nowhere to go, usually burned in the field or left in piles that become the next fire’s fuel. That gap is what REFYN was built to close.

We reimagine what comes off the land into things worth keeping, made slowly and by hand in a small studio. And further out, ways of locking this carbon in place for good, rather than letting it go up in smoke.

Nothing wasted, everything refined.

An invitation

How quickly this grows depends on what we can fund. We are speaking to investors about the next stage: enough capital to clear at a scale where the work begins to pay for itself, and keeps paying long after we have stopped asking anyone for anything.
